The Civil Society Voice of Asia Pacific

The Asia Disaster Reduction and Response Network (ADRRN) is a regional network of civil society organisations dedicated to promoting disaster risk reduction and resilience in the Asia-Pacific region. Since our inception, we have been committed to strengthening the capacities of communities to manage risks, ensuring that vulnerable populations are at the forefront of disaster preparedness and response.

Driven by our member organisations across the region, ADRRN serves as a collaborative platform that brings together expertise, resources, and innovative approaches to build resilience at local, national, and regional levels. Through our thematic hubs, knowledge-sharing initiatives, and coordinated advocacy efforts, we work collectively to transform Asia from the most disaster-prone region to the most resilient by 2030, addressing complex challenges, including climate change impacts, community participation, social inclusion, and sustainable development.

ADRRN Strategy 2030: A Resilience Movement for Asia

The Asian Disaster Reduction and Response Network (ADRRN) is a network of civil society organizations in the Asia region currently spanning Afghanistan to Indonesia. It was established in 2001 with the vision of “Safe Community Environments and Disaster Resilient Societies” and the recent strategy document 2016-2020 called for “Transforming Asia to be the Most Resilient Region by 2030”. Significant transformation of resilience in the region is still required given its status of being the most disaster-prone region in the world.

ADRRN continues to play a key role in the Asian humanitarian ecosystem, through the work of its members, strategic partners and wider stakeholder network. Target-2030, articulated in the 2016-2020 strategy, remains relevant to guide this 2021-2030 strategy – for “ADRRN to strive to work towards transforming Asia as the most disaster-prone region to being the most resilient region through various initiatives and activities of CSOs by 2030”.

The strategic vision for 2021-2030 will build on the good work that continues to be done, but reflecting the very changed world and more complex, multi-dimensional humanitarian challenges in the region, and globally, in response to the Covid-19 pandemic, more severe climate events and a global economic downturn – all of which will impact during this strategic period.

Our mission is to advocate for and implement effective disaster risk reduction practices that enhance community resilience and ensure sustainable development across Asia.

Meet the Executive Committee

Our dedicated team drives ADRRN’s mission to build resilience across Asia. The ADRRN Executive Committee comprises diverse leaders from our member organisations who guide and champion resilience initiatives across Asia-Pacific and globally. Supporting the network, our Secretariat works closely together to oversee day-to-day operations, managing essential functions including gender equality and social inclusion (GESI), monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning (MEAL), communications, business development, and finance. Led by a dedicated Network Coordinator who reports directly to the Executive Committee, the Secretariat implements ADRRN’s strategic vision to strengthen our collective impact on disaster risk reduction.
